Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
Netflix announced recently that the talented performer has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bon Clay. The role has the ability to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a rendition of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, unlike the original manga and animated series.
Escola joins a number of recently announced actors tasked with bringing Baroque Works to reality, including head Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who also joins the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.
Although this character is a key figure of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering the second season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
