Player Ratings: England Win Secured by Kane's Brace in World Cup Qualifier

During a commanding showing, England secured a further win versus Albania, featuring a number of players delivering notable performances throughout the game.

Starting Eleven

The goalkeeper Not a save to make in the first half before forced to intervene by an opponent's bent shot. A sliding tackle on an Albanian attacker demonstrated excellent reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Tested against the opposition's biggest threat through their forward. Played in a central role initially later drifted out wide once Saka came on. 7/10

John Stones Pushed forward on the ball, a familiar role previously. At times lacked urgency on the ball and the approach discontinued after the break. Six

The tall defender Always dangerous on corners and free-kicks, as always, but may be a replacement for Stones at the back rather than alongside him. A loose ball later in the match almost led to a goal for Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further confident showing by the 20-year-old following his initial appearance versus Serbia. Saka was unable to take full advantage of a clever flick behind the opposing backline. The left-back spot is firmly his already. Seven

Adam Wharton A debut start in an England shirt. Somewhat sloppy on the ball however his dangerous set-pieces were a threat. An effective tempo-setter available to the coach to call upon against defensive opponents. Cautioned for a rash tackle. 6

The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and free kicks created chances. Enjoyed license to roam down the left flank but was offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Granted a deserved break on the hour mark. 6

The star midfielder Functioned in an advanced spot out wide and contributed with defensive duties. Showed flashes of quality and dragged an effort over. Withdrawn late on for Rogers, a fellow player, after being booked. Seven

The winger Was presented with the team's top opening before halftime, his shot smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to provide width down the right side although his balls from the touchline were inconsistent. Substituted late in the match. 6

The captain The difference-maker scoring 77th and 78th finishes for his country. The opener a trademark opportunist's goal and his next an excellent finish with his head having drifted away from his marker. Now 32, he’s only getting better and the side stand a real opportunity next summer with him up top. 8

The attacker Found it tough to get into the game on the left flank. Had a decent opportunity when set up by Bellingham but the keeper made the save. His replacement made much more of influence when substituted. 5
