Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Honour

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The trio have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.

This year's winner will be revealed live on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The event will be televised from 19:00 GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
